EMDR Consultation FAQ’s

What is consultation?

Consultation for therapists is when a therapist seeks advice or feedback from another professional on difficult cases, treatment strategies, or ethical issues. It helps them improve their care and get support in challenging situations. Consultation can also be used to advance learning of a specific therapeutic modality, such as EMDR.

What is a Consultant-in-Training?

A Consultant-in-Training (CIT) is an EMDR Certified clinician working towards becoming an EMDR Consultant. They are undergoing a process of refining their consultation skills under the supervision of and EMDR Consultant.

What does it look like to get EMDR Certified?

The road the EMDR Certification can be confusing and overwhelming.  So let me break it down for you and explain how I can help you get there!

EMDRIA requirements simplified, you need to:

  • be a licensed mental health professional

  • have completed an EMDRIA approved EMDR Basic Training

  • complete 20 hours of consultation post EMDR Basic Training

  • conduct at least 50 EMDR sessions with at least 25 clients

  • obtain letters of recommendation from any EMDR consultants you use along the way

What I can provide as a CIT?

As a CIT I can provide up to 15 hours of your 20 hours of required consultation. These can be done individually or in a group format. However, EMDRIA limits the amount of group hours you can do to 10 hours.

What will I learn?

The certification process is for those who have completed basic training and are looking to cultivate a deeper EMDR understanding and practice. We will continue to ground ourselves in the foundations of EMDR, while working collaboratively on your cases to grow in areas of conceptualization and clinical application to better support your clients’ healing journey.

EMDR Refresh Companion Course

EMDR Refresh is a self-paced course offering from Beyond Healing Institute. It is a great supplement to the process of certification and fulfills the requirements of 12 EMDRIA approved credits! This course is designed to go back to the basics of EMDR while deepening the learning and understanding needed to become an EMDR Certified clinician.

Where would I get my addition 5 hours of consultation?

I am being supervised by Jen Savage of the Notice That Podcast and the Beyond Healing Institute, because of this you will have access to complete your additional 5 hours of consultation with one of their expert consultants.

Fees?

My fees for consultation as a CIT come at a discounted rate. For individual consultation my rate is $85/hour while my group rate (max of 4 people) is $60/person/hour.
